Mrs. Haydock is a LEED certified and national and chapter member of the US Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the national rating system for green buildings. As the landscape consultant for a proposed LEED platinum multi-residential project in Brooklyn, NY, she is designing a green roof, native plantings, and a green wall, as well as overseeing the relevant LEED submissions.
She is also the project manager for a SITES (Sustainable Sites Initiative) pilot project in Hempstead, NY, which will test the guidelines for a new rating system for landscape sustainability. Helping to promote sustainable landscape architecture, Mrs. Haydock is an officer of the ASLA (American Society of Landscape Architects) national leadership sustainability group.
Adaptive re-use has been a long-time interest; in graduate school, Mrs. Haydock won a NYS grant for her master’s thesis research, The Financing and Funding of Historic Preservation. Since then, she has studied the resurgence of adaptive re-use and used architectural salvage in her designed landscapes.
